International Celebrity Chef Jason Roberts could easily be mistaken for a carefree college student instead of a world-renowned executive chef, author, executive producer and TV personality that he is.

Jason’s brilliant smile, cheeky nature and Aussie can-do attitude captivates people on all continents. When you come away from having spent time with Jason Roberts you really feel like he is “your mate Jas” with warmth and kindness that transcends his years.

So where did it all begin…finding inspiration in his Nanna’s kitchen as a child “Jas” boldly declared “Nanna, I want to be a cook!” Role models weren’t in short supply either, with his Nanna and grandfather making their living as caterers and his Nanna Goodman running a restaurant. A New Zealand native, Jason as a child experienced nothing but praise from teachers and other adults as they all experienced his cooking and food presentation both in home economics class, at home and at his Nanna’s restaurant.

“I have to say, I have wanted to cook for as long as I remember”, says Jason. “It’s something I do to indulge my imagination, my creativity and to feed my artistic passion. To me, cooking is the most consistent of life’s joys and is immensely rewarding – instantly and constantly”.

Apprenticeships at top Sydney restaurants won Jas the title of Apprentice of the Year in 1993 from the East Sydney Technical Institute. Gaining the position of Head Chef at the renowned Sydney 2 Hat restaurant and eatery Bistro Moncur (where Jason stayed for 7 years), Jason was featured in an Australian national article on Sydney’s “new breed of chefs”. This article caught the attention of Australia’s Channel 9 where Jason became the host of their new cooking programme, Fresh. Airing 5 days a week in Australia and twice a day in New Zealand, Jason hosted Fresh for 4 years and a staggering 800 episodes.

In January 2003 Jason was introduced to 16 million Americans on the ABC TV program Good Morning America where he became an instant hit. His appearance created such a desire for his recipes on the ABC’s website that he rocketed from number 25 to number 4 in the day’s stories.

Jason went on to tantalise viewers in America making several appearances on the Emmy Award winning The Wayne Brady Show, The Sharon Osbourne Show, E! You’re Invited and The Style Network’s You’re Invited. Jason also appeared on New York’s top rating morning show Ali and Jack, Talk Soap with Lisa Rinna and was the special Australian guest entertainment at the 2004 TV Soap Awards.

2003 also saw Jason release his first cookbook “Graze – lots of little meals fast” which taps into the growing trend towards eating smaller, more frequent meals by offering small-portion recipes and alternative cooking methods to save time.

In February 2004 Jason joined forces with the world-renowned U.S. production company Mandalay Pictures where he shot a 3-part lifestyle special entitled Jason Roberts Taste which aired on I Indepandant in 2005. From this series Jason earned a 2005 Accolade Award Honourable Mention for Best host/presenter and best food and lifestyle show.

2004 also saw Jason sign a deal as the Global Ambassador and Culinary Expert of iCook cookware. To this day this endorsement sees Jason travelling the world each year educating people about healthy cooking and healthy lifestyles in a way on Jason can……….with high energy, dancing and lots of laughs.

Back in Australia 2005 saw Jason making numerous guest appearances on Network 10’s high-rating “Ready Steady Cook” where 3 course meals had to be made in under 15 minutes. The year also saw Jason completing endorsements for Sanitarium, Parbury Kitchens and Kleenmaid.

2006 was a memorable year, with Jason and his companies Manic J Productions and Love Me Tender LLC self-publishing his 2nd book Elements. Commencing sales in November 2006 Elements spent a record 50 days as #1 International cookbook through Barnes and noble stores and web sales. A 6 week PR tour of the USA then commenced with a press launch in Los Angeles and 9 other events across the country. Elements has attracted attention throughout the world as a coffee table –cum-cookbook with the inclusion of a 90 minute DVD highlighting cooking tips and tricks, a low stress 5 course dinner party and bbq techniques to name a few. All set against the backdrop of Jason’s home of Australia.

2007 is shaping up to be Jason’s best year yet with a new television show hitting the airwaves during the year, his trademark Jason Roberts – LIVE shows continuing throughout the USA complete with his entertaining, didgeridoo playing and “stomp” style tap dancing. 2007 should also see the launch of Jason’s first food and homewares ranges.

Jason is definitely a man who never sleeps and a man destined to set the world on fire.

For Jason, the best is yet to come.
